Despite the changes in popularity of singers and songs, some become hardy perennials - a choice few who reach the top and stay there. Often the songs themselves outlive the artists, who originally introduced them to the public, and currently there is a considerable flow of numbers between ten and twenty years old reappearing in new guises interpreted by new artists and ringing the Hit Parade bell again. These are the ones which interest Geoff Love when he plans LPs such as this one, plus examples of the classic pop songs which have never been far from the limelight for decades and never will be.

Geoff, of course, is a reliable judge and arbiter where pop music is concerned. A musician, composer and arranger who has worked with and earned the praise of such diverse stars and talents as Shirley Bassey, Paul Robeson, Judy Garland and Howard Keel as well as recording many best-selling orchestral LPs for Music for Pleasure.

Here he is again with another interesting and entertaining selection of material, including Paul Simon's lovely Bridge Over Troubled Water; the delightful oldie What'll I Do; the catchy Tie A Yellow Ribbon, which was such a huge and well-deserved success for Tony Orlando and Dawn; Welcome Home, which took Peters and Lee into the hearts of millions; Spanish Eyes, a winner twice over for Al Martino; Old Fashioned  Way, exuding irresistible  nostalgia  as it reminds us of the delights of dancing in each other's arms like grandma and grandad did, the unashamedly sentimental The Way We Were from the unashamedly sentimental movie of the same name starring Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford and the beautiful She, made famous by France's top male vocalist Charles Aznavour.

All great songs in their own particular way, and all portrayed to perfection by the Geoff Love Singers.
