In this day and age when teenagers would appear to hold sway in the world of light entertainment on discs, it is not easy for an unknown artiste to achieve overnight fame and fortune at the age of forty. This, however, is just what happened to Mrs. Mills. In December 1961 she was the superintendent of the typing pool in the Paymaster General's office in London and by mid-January 1962 she was a household name.

How did this come about?

At that time she was also a member of a semi-professional dance band called the Astorians who used to play for dances In and around Essex. It was at a Woodford Golf Club Dance that she was spotted by a theatrical manager and, as a result, within a very short space of time she was whisked into the recording studios.

Her first record entered the Top Twenty and she immediately became an artiste for whom there was a big demand.

Since then, she has made personal appearances as far apart as Torquay and Glasgow; she is frequently seen on TV and heard on Radio, and there Is always a demand for her records.

Success has not changed Mrs. Mills In any way. She and her husband, Bert, still live in a charming maisonette at Loughton, Essex, and no one could be more house proud than Mrs. Mills.

She has a wonderful sense of fun and Is one of the happiest people you could ever wish to meet. This quality is undoubtedly reflected in her happy style of piano playing and, for this reason, this LP is a must for every home, especially at party time.
